CLSI Global Health Partnerships (GHP) Director Frances Ingersoll, MS, MLS (ASCP), has won the 2014 Bio-Rad Professional Achievement Award in the Microbiology Scientific Assembly Section. The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) bestows the professional awards each year to members recognized for outstanding professional achievement in laboratory science. Ms. Ingersoll was presented with the award during the ASCLS annual meeting in July 2014.
Ms. Ingersoll was recognized for her distinguished career in the field of microbiology, including her four years working in developing countries as part of the CLSI GHP program. Her experience includes more than 15 years in clinical microbiology at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, Rhode Island, USA; 15 years as Program Director of the Medical Technology Program at the same institution; and four years as a full-time visiting lecturer at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. In addition to her laboratory role, she has written two textbooks in the areas of parasitology and microbiology, and has extensive experience in writing procedural documents and the College of American Pathologists accreditation processes.
