Baylor Scott and White Health

Donna Roberts, MS, MT(ASCP)
BSWH Laboratory Quality Assurance Director

Tell us a little about yourself and your relationship to CLSI.
Baylor Scott and White Health is the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas, and one of the largest in the United States. Baylor Scott & White Health was born from the 2013 combination of Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare. Baylor Scott & White includes 46 hospitals and more than 975 patient access points. Individually, our hospitals have been involved with CLSI for many years. This is the first year that we have joined as a Health System member.
What is a unique way that you or your organization has taken advantage of CLSI membership benefits?
We are creating system and division documents that can be used by all of our facilities. Our teams use the CLSI documents to help guide our policies and procedures.
Explain how one CLSI document has made an impact on your work.
That would be difficult. We have referred to and used the Quality Management Systems documents many times.

What has your experience as a volunteer been like? Any key highlights?
The experience has been very enjoyable. Hearing the debates and opinions from all different backgrounds (manufacturing, laboratory, CAP, FDA, pharmacy, etc.) has been a great learning experience.
