RangeFinder

RangeFinder MIC and RangeFinder Disk are Microsoft Excel spreadsheet calculators that are freely available to the public. They have the capacity to provide first estimates of quality control ranges for studies that have followed the CLSI M23 standard for establishing ranges. They also have the capacity to identify outlier laboratories.

Details of the statistics behind the spreadsheets can be found in “Turnidge J, Bordash G. Statistical methods for establishing quality control ranges for antibacterial agents in Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute susceptibility testing. Antimicrob Agents Chemother. 2007 Jul;51(7):2483-2488. Epub 2007 Apr 16.”

Instructions for using these programs are available on the first sheet of each file.

Please note that these spreadsheets are deliberately NOT locked down, so that users may adapt them should they feel the need. However, because of internal formulas, links, and hyperlinks, changes to the spreadsheet can result in errors. Any changes should be performed only by experienced Excel users.

PLEASE SAVE A SEPARATE MASTER OF EACH FILE TO A SEPARATE STORAGE FOLDER IN CASE THE WORKING VERSION BECOMES CORRUPTED OR HAS DEVELOPED CRITICAL IRREVERSIBLE DELETION.

If assistance is required, please contact John Turnidge (author) at jturnidge@gmail.com.
