This year, CLSI celebrated Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, or “Lab Week” (April 19-25, 2015), on our social media platforms by hosting online contests. Our first online event started the week before Lab Week when we hosted a contest in which lab professionals could enter to win a party for their lab. The contest required participants to share their “journey to quality management” with us. We had over 75 amazing submissions from various organizations from around the world.
After a lot of deliberation, we selected the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Laboratories as our winner. Martha Boehme, Manager of Quality Assurance, submitted the entry on behalf of her organization. You can view the winning submission here.
The Monday of Lab Week fell on Volunteer Recognition Day, so we took the opportunity to thank our wonderful volunteers for their continued hard work in an eNewsletter. On Tuesday, our CEO, Glen Fine, took a tour of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and then gave a lunch-and-learn presentation at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. On Wednesday, we celebrated Earth Day by “Going Green” and giving a 20% off promotion on any of our electronic (PDF) standards and our eLearning programs. (Note the promo code EarthDay2015 is valid until May 22, 2015, so don’t miss out!) Thursday was World Laboratory Day, so we sent out an eNewsletter focusing on the remarkable work done by our Global Health Partnerships team. And finally, on Friday, we announced the winner of our “Guess the Number of Skittles in the Beaker Mug” contest.
Throughout the week, we monitored the designated Lab Week hashtag, #Lab4Life, and added to our Lab Week-themed Pinterest board. We also asked that lab professionals use the hashtag #CLSILabWeek when posting photos of how they were celebrating Lab Week. You can view the submissions on social media by clicking on our hashtag. Our winner for our Lab Week Celebration Contest blew us away with a music video that her lab created called “Lab Goin’ Up on a Tuesday.”
We at CLSI would like to thank everyone who participated in our Lab Week contests. We also extend a special congratulations to our Lab Week contest winners. Finally, we want to thank YOU, our members, for your love and passion for your occupations and all things laboratory related!
