CLSI Webinar: Developing Your Laboratory’s IQCP for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing
Recorded on: Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 1:00-2:00 PM Eastern (US) Time
As of January 1, 2016, accredited clinical laboratories performing routine antimicrobial susceptibility tests (ASTs) will have two options for frequency of quality control (QC): 1) perform QC daily as specified in Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments regulations, or 2) develop an individualized QC plan (IQCP) to support less frequent performance of QC. It will no longer be acceptable to follow CLSI standards for weekly QC of ASTs without documentation to support that this approach will not put patients at any greater risk as compared to daily QC. This session will look at the necessary requirements for AST IQCP and present one example of an AST IQCP.
At the conclusion of this program, the participants will be able to:
- Discuss the requirements for IQCP as mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
- Describe the new College of American Pathologists requirements for IQCP.
- Develop an example of an IQCP for AST.
