QMS27, Decontamination of Laboratory Equipment and Instrumentation
CLSI requests nominations for volunteers to serve as members and contributors on a document development committee for a new document.
CLSI document QMS27 will provide guidance for decontaminating common diagnostic equipment used to process or test clinical specimens containing potentially infectious materials. The intention of this guideline is to minimize exposure to laboratory personnel and other support personnel involved in handling, repairing, servicing, transporting, and disposing of contaminated laboratory equipment.
This group is looking for volunteers with:
- Expertise in biosafety (including biosafety professionals, equipment engineers, facility engineers)
- Laboratory technical and management experience
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements related to laboratory safety and/or biosafety

Timeline for this project
Week of May 31 to June 5, 2018: First face-to-face meeting (NOTE: This will be a 2-day meeting scheduled during the June Committees Week in San Diego, California.)
June 2018 to May 2019: Drafting of document (higher-intensity volunteer time period)
February 2020 to April 2020: Voting period for draft document
July 2020 to September 2020: Revision of draft based on comments received during voting
February 2021: Expected publication date
