James R. Petisce, PhD is an Associate Principal Scientist at BD Integrated Diagnostic Systems in Sparks, Maryland. In this role, he develops novel technologies related to sepsis and infection detection as well as antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
He has served CLSI as the chairholder or co-chairholder of document development committees and has been a member of the Expert Panel on Point-of-Care Testing. Additionally, he served as chairholder of the recently completed, five year collaborative project between the CDC and CLSI to improve the awareness and adoption of CLSI documents. Most recently, he has served on the Consensus Council which he now chairs.
Dr. Petisce received his joint BA/MA in chemistry from Boston University. He went on to complete a PhD in chemistry from Northwestern University. He is a prolific inventor with over 90 US patents and more than 120 US patent publications for technologies he has invented and commercialized in the areas of telecommunications, contact lens, continuous glucose monitoring, and in vitro diagnostics.
