CLSI H59 Volunteer Application

CLSI H59 | Quantitative D-dimer for the Exclusion of Venous Thromboembolic Disease, 2nd Edition

CLSI H59 will provide information on proper specimen collection and handling for D-dimer testing, the value of clinical determination for the pretest probability of venous thromboembolism, establishment of the threshold for exclusion of venous thromboembolism, types of assays used for D-dimer analysis, interpretation of test results, as well as regulatory and accreditation considerations for D-dimer testing.

This group is looking for volunteers with:

  • Expertise performing D-dimer assays

  • Experience establishing thresholds and interpreting D-dimer results for the exclusion of venous thromboembolic disease

  • Experience in validating coagulation assays

  • Expertise in the collection, handling, preparation, and storage of coagulation specimens

  • Experience in the manufacturing process for coagulation analyzers and assay

Estimated Timeline 

  • May 2026: First meeting (may include review of document scope and outline, assignment of writing teams)
  • May 2026 to January 2027: Drafting of document (higher-intensity volunteer time period)
  • June 2027 to July 2027: Voting period for draft document
  • July 2027 to September 2027: Revision of draft based on comments received during voting
  • February 2028: Expected Final Draft approval date
