Scope

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:  

  1. Explain the importance of epidemiological cutoff values (ECVs) in antimicrobial susceptibility testing. 
  2. Discuss how ECVs might be used to guide establishment of breakpoints and why they should not be used as clinical breakpoints. 
  3. Apply ECV concepts to clinical and veterinary practice.  

Intermediate: Refresher course. Some basic knowledge required, for the experienced staff technologist with some years of experience.

CLSI is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E® Program.
