This document establishes a process for identifying, assessing, controlling, and monitoring risks associated with hazardous biological materials. It applies to laboratories and organizations involved in handling, storing, transporting, or disposing of such materials and complements existing international laboratory standards. This document does not cover laboratories testing for microorganisms or toxins in food or feedstuffs, nor does it address risk management for genetically modified crops in agriculture.
