CLSI H60 Volunteer Application

CLSI H60 | Laboratory Testing for the Lupus Anticoagulant; Approved Guideline, 2nd Edition

CLSI H60 will review and update the entirety of the first edition document. This includes information on the potential interferences of direct oral anticoagulants (direct FXa and FIIa inhibitors), and also newer agents targeting FXI(a) and FXII(a). The recent multicenter and multiplatform validation of the Taipan snake venom time (TSVT) screening test and Ecarin time (ET) confirmatory test for lupus anticoagulant detection in nonanticoagulated patients and those on VKAs or DFXaIs may also be useful to include in the second version of the CLSI H60. New information on LA testing in resource constrained settings will be added.

This group is looking for volunteers with:

  • Expertise and experience in lupus anticoagulant detection

  • Expertise in the design, principles, and limitations of lupus anticoagulant tests

  • Expertise in how interferences (e.g. non-lupus anticoagulant coagulopathies, therapeutic anticoagulation) affect each test

  • Expertise and experience in lupus anticoagulant data interpretation and reporting in the presence and absence of interferences

Estimated Timeline

  • July 2026: First meeting (may include review of document scope and outline, assignment of writing teams)
  • July 2026 to July 2027: Drafting of document (higher-intensity volunteer time period)
  • October 2027 to December 2027: Voting period for draft document
  • December 2027 to February 2028: Revision of draft based on comments received during voting
