Copyright Policy, Ownership, Trademarks and Other Intellectual Property
CLSI Intellectual Property Ownership
CLSI is the proprietary owner of the entire contents of the Website, including the text, graphics, images, logos, button icons, HTML code, and other materials. CLSI grants no copyright or ownership interests to you or to any other user for any of the material and proprietary information referred to herein belonging to CLSI. CLSI reserves all rights to all content of CLSI standards, guidelines, and all other CLSI products, materials, and works of authorship.
Through a website log-in (single sign-on), registered members can access various additional resources via the CLSI website. These resources include:
- eCLIPSE: A digital content library powered by Edaptive Technologies. Users accessing eCLIPSE are subject to its specific terms of use.
- Elevate eLearning Learning Management System: Powered by Cadmium, this platform provides various educational resources. Users accessing the eLearning system are subject to Cadmium's terms of use.
- Accredible Badging and Certificating Platform: This platform facilitates the issuance of badges and certificates. Users accessing this platform are subject to Accredible's terms of use.
CLSI has contractual agreements with these third-party providers to offer these resources. Users of the CLSI website and its associated resources are also bound by the terms and conditions of these third-party platforms. As between the website users and CLSI, the proprietary owner of all intellectual property remains CLSI.
You agree not to remove or obscure copyright notices appearing on the Website. Additionally, CLSI has implemented watermarking of documents to help protect the intellectual property of its standards, guidelines, and content. Users agree not to remove or obscure embedded watermarking and adhere to any usage and license restrictions, attribution guidelines, and any copyright designations noted on the watermarking.
Permitted Users of Materials
Below are selected permitted and prohibited uses of CLSI materials that are posted at the Website.
- Anyone who is doing personal, noncommercial research may view, print material, and temporarily store materials from the Website, provided that CLSI's copyright notices are not removed and that the reuse of material does not conflict with any of the prohibited uses below.
- Anyone may share CLSI materials by utilizing the “share” icons (displayed in conjunction with the Website materials on the Website.
- CLSI may grant open access license to users for selected CLSI materials, and Users will be bound by such open access license terms.
- Any use other than as described in paragraph 1 ~ 3 above requires prior written permission from CLSI. It is CLSI’s general policy to grant permission, subject to appropriate licensing terms, for non-commercial activities. You may complete this permission request form.
Prohibited Uses of Materials
- Except for the permitted uses above, User agrees not to reproduce, distribute, transmit (via print, fax, electronic, or other means), modify, alter, or create derivative works of the materials contained in the Website without prior written permission from CLSI. Specifically, any entity, person, or business who desires to copy, duplicate, replicate, reproduce, extract, present, or otherwise communicate any content of CLSI standards, guidelines, or other CLSI products or materials shall obtain express written consent from CLSI. Interested parties may complete this permission request form.
- User agrees that materials may not be commercially exploited or sold to third parties without prior written authorization from CLSI.
- User agrees that materials may not be systematically stored on a server so as to substitute for the purchase of a subscription and/or license agreement to/for the materials.
- User agrees that materials may not be used by generative AI developers for the purpose of developing or training AI tools for machine learning without prior written permission from CLSI.
